The peruvian Hairless breed dates from around the VI century, when Chinese merchants had rhe first contacts with the early Peruvian coastal cultures, they brought the Chinese Crested dogs to Peru as well as to Mexico ( Xoloitzcuintle Breed)
This theory is opposed by many Arqueologists who refuse to accept any contacts between China and America at such an early stage (anti-diffusionists).They claim the dogs came through the Bering Strait together with early American people, If this was true there would be hairless dogs in North America.
